Eagles and vultures (鵰鷲: for the upper character, the sound is 彫 [*diāo*]; for the lower character, the sound is 就 [*jiù*]. This was already explained in detail in Fascicle Three of the *Sounds and Meanings of the Mahāprajñāpāramitā-sūtra*; the text is cumbersome and will not be repeated).
