Licking blood (for the former [character 舐], shi + er fan, a character in the rising tone; the *Shuowen* says: "Taking up things with the tongue; it is formed with 'tongue' (舌) and shi (氏) as phonetic"; it is also written as 舓 or as 𦧇, an ancient character).
