一巷 (An alley: [巷 has the] fanqie 行降 [xiàng]. The Mao commentary on the Shijing says: 'A lane between neighborhoods.' The Shiji says: 'A long alley refers to a minor path within a city or palace.' The Shuowen jiezi derives it from two 邑 and 共 to make 𲆛; clerical script uses the abbreviated form).
