Oppressing and despising (the upper character is pronounced 力 + 矜 fanqie. In the sūtra text it is written as '陵', which is not the original character; it has already been explained above in Fascicle 9. The lower character is pronounced 眠 + 鱉 fanqie. In the sūtra text it is written as '蔑', an erroneous abbreviation; writing it with the heart radical is correct.)
