Possessed by a demon (pronounced 眉 + 秘 fanqie. The Shanhaijing says: “The essence of an aged thing.” The Shuowen writes it as '鬽', deriving from '鬼' [ghost]; because ghosts grow hair, it derives from '彡' depicting hair. The lower character is pronounced 池 + 略 fanqie; it derives from '艸' [grass] and '者'. In the sūtra text it is written as '著', which is incorrect.)
