瘖瘂（上飲今反說文不能言也瘖猶無聲也下烏賈反前第一卷已釋竝從疒女厄反從口作啞非也）。

瘖瘂 (the upper character is *yǐn* + *jīn* [fanqie: yīn]; the Shuowen jiezi says: "Unable to speak; 'yīn' is like having no voice." The lower character is *wū* + *jiǎ* [fanqie: yǎ]; already explained above in Fascicle 1; both are derived from the radical 'chuáng' (疒), which is *nǚ* + *è* [fanqie]. Writing it with 'kǒu' (mouth) as 啞 is incorrect).
