𤺊嗄（上細賚反郭注方言云𤺊咽病也東齊云聲散曰嘶秦[臸/目]聲變曰𤺊器破而不殊其音亦謂之𤺊顧野王云悲聲也說文從疒斯聲或作𧬊嘶經作㽄俗字也下砂詐反考聲云聲破也文字集略云皆聲敗也）。

Hoarse and cracked [voice] (𤺊嗄: the first character has the fanqie xi-lai; Guo's commentary on the Fangyan states that 𤺊 is an ailment of the throat; in Eastern Qi it is said that when the voice scatters it is called 嘶, while in Qin and Jin when the voice changes it is called 𤺊; when an implement is broken yet not separated and its sound [is harsh], it is also called 𤺊; Gu Yewang states that it is a sorrowful sound; the Shuowen says it is formed from 'sickness' [疒] with 斯 as phonetic; it is sometimes written as 𧬊 or 嘶; the sūtra writes it as 㽄, which is a vulgar character; the second character has the fanqie sha-zha; the Kaosheng states that it means the voice is broken; the Wenzi jilüe states that both mean the voice is ruined).
