戰痏（下音又蒼頡篇云疻痏敺傷也惠琳謹案經意波旬愁悴皮膚變黑如人被敺內傷其狀如是玄應言非又書顫𩑌乖經意也疻音之也）。

Bruises from trembling [fear] (戰痏: the second character has the sound you; the Cangjiepian states that 疻痏 means wounds from beatings; Huilin respectfully notes that according to the sūtra's meaning, Pāpīyān [Māra] was sorrowful and haggard, his skin turning black just as if a person had suffered internal injuries from a beating, such was his condition; Xuanying's remark is mistaken, and furthermore writing it as 顫𩑌 departs from the sūtra's meaning; 疻 is pronounced zhi).
