循環（上徇遵反孔注論語云循循次序皃也郭注尒雅云循為巡行也廣雅云從也說文亦行從彳盾聲盾音順下患關反鄭注周禮云環旋也何注公羊傳云繞也說文從玉睘聲睘音還也）。

循環 (The first character is pronounced with the fanqie 徇 + 遵. Kong's commentary on the Lunyu says: 循循 denotes an orderly appearance. Guo's commentary on the Erya says: 循 means to patrol. The Guangya says: to follow. The Shuowen says: also to walk; it takes the 'step' radical and 盾 as phonetic. 盾 is pronounced like 順. The second character is pronounced with the fanqie 患 + 關. Zheng's commentary on the Zhouli says: 環 means to revolve. He's commentary on the Gongyang zhuan says: to circle around. The Shuowen says: it takes the 'jade' radical and 睘 as phonetic. 睘 is pronounced like 還.)
