Moss coating (苔衣: the upper character [苔] has the fanqie phonetic [tai] (代來反). Gu Yewang states: "Green in color, it grows at the bottom of water." The Shuowen jiezi states: "It is water garment [duckweed/moss]; derived from the grass radical (艸) with the phonetic marker [tai] (台); it is also written as 菭").
