姻媾（上一寅反白虎通云婦人因夫而成故曰姻也杜注左傳云姻親也說文從女因聲下古候反賈注國語云重婚曰媾也毛詩傳云媾厚也說文從女冓聲冓音古貿反）。

Marital alliance (姻媾) (The first character has the fanqie yi + yin. The Bohu tong says: “A woman is established through dependence (yin 因) upon her husband, hence it is called marital connection (yin 姻).” Du’s commentary on the Zuo zhuan says: “Yin means marriage relatives.” The Shuowen says: “It is formed from the ‘woman’ classifier and the phonetic yin (因).” The second character has the fanqie gu + hou. Jia’s commentary on the Guoyu says: “Repeated intermarriage is called gou (媾).” The Mao Shi zhuan says: “Gou means deep/close.” The Shuowen says: “It is formed from the ‘woman’ classifier and the phonetic gou (冓).” Gou (冓) has the fanqie gu + mao).
