懵憒（上墨崩反毛詩云懵亂皃也周禮云無光也又悶也賈注國語云慙也廣雅云闇也說文云不明也從心瞢聲亦作瞢又作懜也經作𦢧誤也下迴罪反𩠐楞嚴三昧經中卷已具釋訖）。

懵憒 (upper: *mok* + *bong* [měng]: The Mao Commentary on the *Classic of Poetry* says: '懵 means confused appearance.' The *Rites of Zhou* says: 'Dim.' It also means stifled. Jia [Kui]'s commentary on the *Guoyu* says: 'Ashamed.' The *Guangya* says: 'Dark.' The *Shuowen jiezi* says: 'Unenlightened; follows the heart radical with the phonetic *méng* (瞢).' It is also written as 瞢 or as 懜. The sūtra writes 𦢧, which is an error. Lower: *hwoj* + *dzwoj* [kuì]: Fully explained previously in the middle fascicle of the *Śūraṅgamasamādhi-sūtra*).
