可齅(下朽又反考聲云禽走臭而知其迹者犬也論語云子路拱之三齅而作是也說文以鼻就臭也從鼻臭聲也)。
可齅 ('can be smelled'; the lower character is pronounced 朽 [xiǔ] + 又 [yòu] fanqie. The Kaosheng says: 'A hound is an animal that tracks scents and knows their trail.' The Analects says: 'Zilu saluted it; it smelled thrice and took flight,' which is this. The Shuowen says: 'To bring the nose near a scent.' It is composed of 鼻 ['nose'] with 臭 as phonetic).
