嬉戲（上喜其反蒼頡篇亦戲笑也考聲云遊戲也說文樂也從女喜聲也下羲義反毛詩傳云戲逸豫也爾雅云謔浪笑𢾕是也史記云天子無戲言也說文從戈䖒聲也䖒音希正體字也經從虛作戱俗字也）。

Sport and amusement (嬉戲: the upper character has the fanqie 喜其 [xī]. The Cangjie pian states: "It also means joking and laughing." The Kaosheng states: "To play and enjoy oneself." The Shuowen states: "Delight. Derived from 女, with 喜 as phonetic." The lower character has the fanqie 羲義 [xì]. The Mao Commentary states: "Amusement means leisure and pleasure." The Erya states: "'Jesting, laughing, and bantering' is this." The Shiji states: "The Son of Heaven does not speak in jest." The Shuowen states: "Derived from 戈, with 䖒 as phonetic; 䖒 is pronounced 希 [xī], and is the standard form of the character. When written with 虛 in the sūtras as 戱, it is a vulgar variant").
