選耎（而兗反案選耎猶須臾也呂氏云少選俗謂之選耎言推託不肯為也經文或作選蝡或作潠𣽈非也）。

選耎 [Hesitating/dallying]: Fanqie 而 (er) + 兗 (yan) [MC: *ȵiuæ̌n]. Upon examination, 選耎 (xuanruan) is like 'a brief moment'. Lü shi states: 'A short pause is popularly called 選耎 (xuanruan); it denotes making excuses and refusing to act.' In sūtra texts it is sometimes written as 選蝡 or 潠𣽈, which are incorrect.
