斑駁（上八蠻反下邦邈反漢書云白黑合雜謂之駁說文駁不純色也從馬爻聲爻音効交反經從交作駮俗字也）。

斑駁 (mottled and spotted; the first character is 八蠻反; the second character is 邦邈反; the Book of Han states that an intermixture of white and black is called 駁; the Shuowen jiezi states that 駁 means an impure colour; it takes the 'horse' (馬) radical with 爻 as phonetic; 爻 is pronounced 効交反; the sutra writing it with 交 as 駮 is a vulgar character).
