盲冥(上莫耕反前大乘造像經已釋下莫瓶反考聲云冥暗也說文冥幽也從日曰數十從六凡月十六日始虧漸幽暗也從冖會意字也冖音覓經文從宀從具作𡨋非也)。
Blind and dark (mangming; the upper character is mo-geng fan, already explained previously in the Mahāyāna Sūtra on Making Images. The lower character is mo-ping fan. The Kaosheng says: "Ming means darkness." The Shuowen jiezi says: "Ming means obscure. It is composed of the sun and the number ten, together with six; generally on the sixteenth day of the lunar month it begins to wane and gradually becomes obscure and dark. It takes the cover classifier [冖]; it is an associative compound." The cover classifier [冖] has the sound mi. In the sūtra text it is written with the roof classifier and ju as 𡨋, which is incorrect).
