陿劣(上咸甲反顧野王云陿迫隘不廣大也說文隘從𨸏從夾作陜雖正體為與陜州字相亂故不取且依經文從匧作陿經文從犬作狹是狹習犬馬非此用也匧音謙叶反)。
Narrow and inferior (xialie; the upper character is xian-jia fan. Gu Yewang says: "Xia means cramped and constrained, not broad and vast." The Shuowen jiezi says: "Cramped takes the mound classifier [𨸏] and jia as phonetic, written as 陜." Although this is the orthodox form, because it is easily confused with the character for Shaan Prefecture (陜州), it is not adopted. For now, following the sūtra text, it takes the box classifier [匧] and is written as 陿. When written in the sūtra text with the dog classifier as 狹, this refers to being familiar with dogs and horses, and is not appropriate for this usage. Qie [匧] has the sound qian-xie fan).
