Snot and saliva (tituo; the upper character is yi-zhi fan. The Book of Changes says: "Lamenting with tears and runny nose." The Shuowen jiezi says: "Ti is nasal mucus. It takes the water classifier and yi as phonetic." It also has the sound zan. In the sūtra it is written with the water classifier as 涕; the Shuowen jiezi says: "Ti means weeping," which is not the meaning of nasal snot. The lower character is tu-ke fan. The Zuo zhuan says: "Xian Zhen of Jin spat without looking back"; this is it. The Shuowen jiezi says: "Saliva from the mouth. It takes the mouth classifier and chui as phonetic").
