耎美(上而兖反考工記云欲其柔滑膽之以脂即耎也埤蒼云耎弱也說文從大而聲經從水作濡音檽濕也非經義也)。

Soft and fine (ruanmei; the upper character is er-yan fan. The Kaogong ji says: "If you want it to be soft and smooth, moisten it with fat; this is ruan." The Picang says: "Ruan means pliable and weak." The Shuowen jiezi says: "It takes the big classifier and er as phonetic." In the sūtra it is written with the water classifier as 濡, which has the sound ruan and means wet; this is not the meaning of the sūtra).
