德鎧, [armor of virtue] (the lower character is kāi + gǎi fanqie. The Wenzi jilüe says: "Covering the body with metal and leather is called kǎi (鎧)." The Shuowen jiezi says: "Kǎi means armor; it is classified under the metal radical (金), with kǎi (愷) abbreviated phonetic").
