殞墜（上筠菌反下椎類反聲類云殞沒也隕墜落也孔註尚書云若墜㴱泉也說文從歺員聲或從𨸏作隕不取歺音殘墜文字典說云墜從高落下也從𨸏遂省聲[隊-(阿-可)]音遂或作隊也）。

殞墜 (perishing and falling down; the first character is 筠菌反; the second character is 椎類反; the Shenglei states that 殞 means to perish; 隕 means to fall; Kong [Anguo's] commentary on the Classic of Documents states, 'As if falling into a deep spring'; the Shuowen jiezi states that it takes the 'death' (歺) radical with 員 as phonetic; or written with the 'mound' (𨸏) radical as 隕, not using 歺 which has the sound of can (ruin); the Wenzidian shuo states that 墜 means falling from on high; it takes the 'mound' (𨸏) radical with 遂 abbreviated as phonetic; [隊-(阿-可)] is pronounced 遂; also written as 隊).
