樒木（民必反考聲云木名也甚有香文理似白檀香非白檀也欲取令香者皆須斫經多年久乃香出其樹白檀之種類也赤者為上世多不識呼為白檀香）。

Rosewood (mín + bì fanqie. The Kaosheng says: 'The name of a tree; it is very fragrant, and its grain resembles white sandalwood, but it is not white sandalwood. When one wishes to harvest its fragrance, it must be cut down and left for many years before the fragrance emerges. It is of the same genus as white sandalwood; the red variety is superior. People of the world often do not recognize it and call it white sandalwood').
