Brilliant variegation (綵絢: the lower character [絢 is pronounced] 玄 + 絹 fanqie; Zheng [Xuan]'s commentary on the Yili says when variegated patterns are formed it is called 絢;绚服 denotes glorious and flourishing garments; it is composed of 糸 'silk' with 旬 as its phonetic; 旬 has the same sound as above; both are phono-semantic compound characters).
