諷詠（上風鳳反鄭注周禮云倍文曰諷以聲節之曰誦毛詩序云風諷也上以風化下下以風㓨上形聲字毛詩序又云言之不足故嗟歎之嗟歎之不足故詠歌之詠歌之不足故不知手之舞之）。

諷詠 (the first character is *f[ēng] + f[èng]* fanqie. Zheng's commentary on the Zhouli states: 'Reciting by heart without looking at the text is called 諷; reciting it with vocal cadence is called 誦.' The Mao Preface to the Odes says: '風 means 諷 [to satirize or persuade]; superiors use it to transform inferiors, and inferiors use it to reproach superiors.' It is a phono-semantic character. The Mao Preface to the Odes also says: 'When words are insufficient, one sighs over it; when sighing is insufficient, one chants and sings it; when chanting and singing are insufficient, unconsciously one's hands dance and one's feet stomp').
