芬馥（上芳文反鄭箋毛詩云芬芬香氣貌也方言和也說文草初生其香分布從草形聲字也或從屮作芬下馮目反韓詩云馥芬孝祀也古今正字從香复聲也复音同上也）。

芬馥 (The upper character has the fanqie [芳+文]. Zheng's commentary to the Mao Shi says: "芬芬 describes the appearance of fragrant vapor." The Fangyan says: "Harmonious." The Shuowen says: "When grass first sprouts, its fragrance disperses; from 草, a phono-semantic compound." Sometimes it is written from 屮 as 芬. The lower character has the fanqie [馮+目]. The Han Shi says: "馥芬 denotes filial sacrifice." The Gujin zhengzi says: "From 香 with 复 phonetic." 复 has the same pronunciation as above.)
