竦竪（上粟勇反廣雅竦上也考聲驚也心不安也說文敬也從立從束自甲束也束亦聲也古文從人作傱也下殊主反說文竪立也從臤豆作豎籀文從殳作豎）。

Bristling upright (竦竪) (The upper character is su + yong fan. The Guangya states: "竦 means to ascend." The Kaosheng states: "To be startled; the mind is unsettled." The Shuowen states: "To be reverent. Composed with 'standing' [立] semantic and 'bundle' [束] semantic; to bundle oneself from armor; 'bundle' is also phonetic." In ancient script, it is written with 'person' [人] as 傱. The lower character is shu + zhu fan. The Shuowen states: "竪 means to stand upright. Composed with 臤 and 豆 as 豎." In the Zhou script, it is written with 'lance' [殳] as 豎).
