疫癘（上音伇下離制反鄭注周禮云疫癘氣不和之疾也五行傳云六癘時作是也說文云疫民之疾也從疒伇省聲癘皆惡疾也從疒癘省聲疒女厄反）。

疫癘: The first character has the pronunciation of 伇. The second character has the fanqie [l]í + [zh]ì. Zheng['s] commentary on the Rites of Zhou says: "Epidemic and pestilence (疫癘) are diseases caused by unharmonious qi." The Wuxing zhuan says: "The six pestilences arise in season—this is it." The Shuowen [jiezi] says: "疫 means an illness of the people; composed of the illness radical (疒) with an abbreviated 伇 phonetic. 癘 refers to severe ailments; composed of the illness radical (疒) with an abbreviated 癘 phonetic." The pronunciation of 疒 has the fanqie [n]ǚ + [è].
