茅齋（下側階反鄭注禮記云齋莊也又云齋者精明之至也案茅齋者淨草屋也洗心嚴潔講道精修延待上賔之處也說文戒潔也從示齊聲也）。

茅齋 (The lower character is pronounced with the fanqie 側階 [zhāi]. Zheng [Xuan]'s commentary to the Liji says: "齋 means solemn and dignified." It also says: "齋 is the utmost in purity and clarity." Note: A thatched chamber (茅齋) is a purified hut of grass, where one purifies the mind, observes discipline, expounds the Way, practices diligently, and receives distinguished guests. The Shuowen says: "Abstinence and purification. Analyzed as semantic 示 and phonetic 齊.")
