却敵（提的反考聲云敵對也案敵亦惌也讎也却敵者城上伏兵禦𱏽之所者也）。

却敵 (Repelling enemies: The fanqie 提的 [dí]. The Kaosheng says: "敵 means facing or opposing." Note that 敵 also means an adversary or a foe. "Repelling enemies" refers to places atop the city walls where concealed troops lie in ambush to fend off bandits).
