繩柲 (The first character has the fanqie: 常仍. The Kaosheng says: "A type of cord." Originally Chuishi invented the compass, square, water-level, and plumb-line; Song Zhong says: "Chuishi was a minister of Shun. The cord is that by which straightness is measured." The Guangya says: "Sheng (繩) means straight." The Shuowen says: "A cord or rope; it takes the silk radical with the phonetic mi (覔) and an abbreviated ying (蠅)." The second character has the fanqie: 駢結. The Kaosheng says: "To bend (拗); the sound of 拗 is fanqie: 厄絞." Du's commentary on the Zuozhuan says: "To hold or support an object with the hand." In the sūtra it is written as 𢱧, which is also acceptable. Zheng's commentary on the Shangshu dazhuan says: "[棍-日+(ㄇ@人)] means to push." The sound of push (推) is fanqie: 他雷. The Guangya says: "To twist or turn." It is also written with the cloth radical as 𢱧, which is also acceptable. The Shuowen says: "It takes the hand radical with the phonetic bi (祕)").
