To clear away and take (撥取: [撥 is] *y(ang)* + *m(wat)* in fanqie. The Guangya says: '撥 means to remove.' Zheng [Xuan's] commentary on the Zhouli says: '撥 means to brush away.' The Shuowen gives it under 手 with 發 phonetic.)
