瘡疣 (sores and warts: the upper character has the fanqie chu + shuang. The Liji says: "When there are sores on the head, one washes the hair." The Shuowen writes it as 創, meaning an injury or wound. In ancient script it was written as 刃, picturing a blade penetrating. The sūtra writes it as 瘡, which is a popular character. The lower character has the fanqie you + qiu. The Cangjiepian says: "You (疣) is a disease." Furthermore, a small one is called a wart (you), and a large one is called an outgrowth (zhui). The Gujin zhengzi writes it with the "sickness" radical and the you (尤) phonetic component; it is also written as 𤴨. The character zhui (贅) has the fanqie zhuang + rui).
