頒告（上八蠻反俗字也正作𠔯考聲云𠔯賦事也或作班漢書作辨今時所不用相傳借頒為班字鄭注禮記頒分布也若據說文頒音[八/又]文反大頭也鬢也非經義）。

頒告 (proclaiming: the upper character has the fanqie ba + man. It is a popular character; the standard character is 𠔯. The Kaosheng says: "𠔯 means distributing duties." It is also written as ban (班); the Hanshu writes it as bian (辨), which is not used nowadays. It has been handed down that ban (頒) is borrowed for the character ban (班). Zheng's commentary on the Liji says: "Ban (頒) means distributing." However, according to the Shuowen, ban has the fanqie fen + wen, meaning a large head or the temples; this is not the sūtra's meaning).
