恭敬（上恭字說文從也肅也下古文心字上共聲也俗從尒非也下敬字考聲云敬慎也說文從攴苟苟音己力反）。

Reverent and respectful (恭敬: the first character, 恭 [gong], according to the Shuowen means solemn and respectful. Below, it has the ancient form of the character 心 [heart]; above, 共 serves as phonetic. The vulgar form deriving from 尒 is incorrect. The second character, 敬 [jing], according to the Kaosheng means respectful and prudent. The Shuowen derives it from 攴 and 苟. 苟 is pronounced [己 + 力] j-í [jí]).
