砥掌（𦛒履反杜注左傳云砥平蒼頡篇云磨礪石也說文作底柔石也從厂氐聲厂音罕）。

Level as a grindstone (砥掌: fanqie ch- + l- [= chí-lǚ]. Du's commentary on the Zuozhuan says: "Dǐ (砥) means level." The Cangjie pian says: "A whetstone or grindstone." In the Shuowen jiezi it is written as 底, a soft stone; composed of the cliff radical (厂) with dǐ (氐) phonetic; the cliff radical is pronounced hǎn).
