勉勵（上音免說文勉亦勵也強也從力免聲也下力滯反說文勉力也從力厲聲）。

To encourage and exert oneself (勉勵: the upper character is pronounced miǎn; Shuowen jiezi says: 'Miǎn also means to exert oneself; to make strong; derived from 力 "strength" with 免 phonetic'. The lower character has the fanqie lì + zhì [lì]; Shuowen jiezi says: 'To exert one's strength; derived from 力 "strength" with 厲 phonetic').
