罪愆（上摧猥反廣雅罪誅也說文犯法也古文作[自/(┴/(ㄥ*〡*ㄙ)/┬)]秦始皇以[自/(┴/(ㄥ*〡*ㄙ)/┬)]字似皇字故改從冈從非下丘焉反孔注尚書云愆過也古作平衛宏作𮘧[(彳*言*亍)/心]並古字也時不行用也）。

Transgression and fault (罪愆: the upper character has the fanqie cuī + wěi [zuì]; Guangya says: 'A crime requires execution'; Shuowen jiezi says: 'To violate the law; in ancient script written as 𦋛'; the First Emperor of Qin, because the character 𦋛 resembled the character huáng, changed it to derive from 冈 and 非. The lower character has the fanqie qiū + yān [qiān]; Kong's commentary on the Shangshu states: 'Qiān means fault'; in ancient script written as 平, and Wei Hong wrote it as 𮘧 or 𢤩, both being ancient characters that are no longer in common use).
