Dèngmào [瞪𥊄, staring fixedly / dazed vision] (The first character has the fanqie chéng + [病-丙+(土/ㄆ)]. The Picang says: 'Dèng [瞪] means to stare straight ahead.' The Kaosheng says: 'To look; to roll the eyes.' In the Gujin zhengzi, it is formed from the eye radical with dēng 登 as phonogram. The second character has the fanqie mò + bēng. The Shuowen jiezi says: 'Mào [𥊄] means unclear sight.' It is formed from mù 苜 and xuàn 䀏. In sūtra editions it is written with the sun radical as [暯-旲+(蜀-虫+日)], which is incorrect. [病-丙+(土/ㄆ)] has the fanqie lì + zhèng. 䀏 has the fanqie hū + xiàn).
