Interrogating and investigating (推鞫) (fanqie: 居六反. The Wenzidian shuo says: “鞫 means to exhaustively examine a criminal's misdeeds, so that there is certainly reform. It takes 革 [leather/reform] as its semantic component and 訇 as its phonetic component”).
