易處（上盈益反顧野王云易謂交換也賈逵註國語云易猶異也變也廣雅轉也說文易象形字也秘書日月為易一云從勿下昌與反毛詩傳曰處居也止也說文作處云止也從久得几而止經作處俗字也）。

易處 (the first character is ying-yi fan; Gu Yewang states: '易 means exchanging.' Jia Kui's commentary on the Guoyu states: '易 is like being different; to transform.' The Guangya states: 'to turn around.' The Shuowen states that 易 is a pictographic character; the secret books say that "sun and moon" form 易; another explanation says it is derived from wù. The second character is chang-yu fan; the Mao commentary on the Shijing states: '處 means to reside, to stop.' The Shuowen writes it as 處, stating: 'to stop,' derived from jiǔ and obtaining jī to stop; the sūtra writing 處 is a popular character).
