草䕓（音察草蔖也亦芬經文作藻非也蔖音千古反枯草也今陜以西言草蔡江南山東言草蔖蔖音山東云七故反）。

草䕓 (pronounced chái; it means dry grass and straw; also fragrance. The sūtra text writes 藻, which is incorrect. 蔖 has the fanqie 千古 [qi(ān) + g(ǔ)], meaning withered grass. Nowadays, west of Shan[zhou] they say 草蔡, while south of the Yangtze and east of the mountains they say 草蔖; in Shandong, 蔖 is pronounced with the fanqie 七故 [q(ī) + g(ù)]).
