洿池(上沃古反廣雅洿深也國語塞泉源而為潢洿賈逵註云大曰潢小者曰洿經文作污俗字亦通又去聲又渦臥反後二音今並不取之也)。

Stagnant pool (洿池): the first character is [pronounced with the fanqie] 沃 + 古. The Guangya says: 'Wu (洿) means deep.' The Guoyu says: 'Dammed up springs and sources to make pools and stagnant waters.' Jia Kui's commentary says: 'Large ones are called huang (潢); small ones are called wu (洿).' The sūtra text writes it as 污, which is a popular variant that is also acceptable. It is also pronounced in the departing tone (qu sheng), or with the fanqie 渦 + 臥; these latter two pronunciations are not adopted here.
