俾其（卑弭反若取上聲此字從彳丑尺反考聲云使也爾雅云俾從也苦作去聲即從人韻詮與也說文益也從人卑聲也）。

俾其 "To cause / allow" (fanqie: 卑弭 [bǐ]. If read in the rising tone, the character is composed with 彳, fanqie 丑尺 [chǐ]. The Kaosheng says: 'It means to cause.' The Erya says: '俾 means to follow.' If read in the departing tone, it is composed with 人. The Yunquan says: 'It means to give.' The Shuowen says: 'It means to benefit/increase; it is composed with 人 and has 卑 as its phonetic component').
