旃茶羅（梵言直家反此云執暴惡人亦言惡煞謂屠煞者種類之捴名也其人若行則搖鈴自標或杖破頭之竹若不然者則與罪舊言旃陁羅訛也）。

Caṇḍāla 旃茶羅 (Sanskrit: *zhí-jiā* fanqie; here translated as "one who commits violent and evil acts", also called "evil killer", being a general name for the caste of butchers and slaughterers; when such a person walks, they must shake a bell to mark themselves, or carry a split-ended bamboo cane; if they do not, they incur punishment; the older rendering *zhanduoluo* [旃陁羅] is an error).
