閱眾（上音悅韻英云門中具數謂之閱左傳閱前車馬也說文人具數於門中謂之閱從門從兌聲也下眾字說文多也從𠂢𠂢音吟從橫目字是眾意會意字也）。

閱眾 [reviewing the assembly] (The first character is pronounced [y]ue. The Yunying says: "To take full tally within the gate is called 閱." The Zuo zhuan says: "To inspect the chariots and horses before them." The Shuowen jiezi says: "When people are fully counted within a gate, it is called 閱." Composed with 門 [gate] and 兌 as phonetic. The second character 眾 in the Shuowen jiezi means many. Composed with 𠂢, pronounced y- + [?] [-> yin], and horizontal 目 [eyes]; this indicates the sense of a multitude, an ideographic compound).
