戲弄（上羲義反毛詩傳云戲逸豫也尒雅謔也郭注云啁戲也廣雅戲耶也史記天子無戲言說文三軍之偏也兵也從戈䖒聲䖒音希䖒字說文從虍從豆論文從丘非也下祿棟反杜注左傳云弄戲也說文玩也從玉從廾廾音拱今論文加手作弄非也）。

戲弄 (The first character is *xi* + *yi* fanqie; the Mao Commentary on the *Shijing* says: "戲 means leisure and pleasure." The *Erya* says: "To tease, banter." Guo [Pu]'s commentary says: "To jest and play." The *Guangya* says: "戲 means to ridicule." The *Shiji* says: "The Son of Heaven utters no playful words." The *Shuowen* says: "The flank of the three armies; weapons; derived from 戈 [halberd], with 䖒 phonetic; 䖒 is pronounced *xi*; the character 䖒 in the *Shuowen* is derived from 虍 and 豆; in the treatise text it is written with 丘, which is incorrect." The second character is *lu* + *dong* fanqie; Du [Yu]'s commentary to the *Zuo tradition* says: "弄 means to play." The *Shuowen* says: "To toy with; derived from 玉 [jade] and 廾; 廾 is pronounced *gong*." Now in the treatise text a hand [radical] is added to write 弄, which is incorrect).
