峻歭（上荀俊反孔注尚書云峻高大也鄭玄注毛詩云峻長也字書云險峭也說文云峻高也從陖作峻陖音同下除理反說文歭躇也頋野王云謂止不前也從止寺聲）。

峻歭 (The first character is *xun* + *jun* fanqie; Kong's commentary to the *Shangshu* says: "峻 means lofty and large." Zheng Xuan's commentary to the Mao *Shijing* says: "峻 means long." The *Zishu* says: "Steep and precarious." The *Shuowen* says: "峻 means high; from 陖 made as 峻; 陖 has the same pronunciation." The second character is *chu* + *li* fanqie; the *Shuowen* says: "歭 means to hesitate." Gu Yewang says: "It means stopping and not advancing; derived from 止 with 寺 phonetic").
