巨壑（何各反山海經云東海之外有大壑頋野王云謂谿谷也郭注尒雅云謂坈塹也說文云壑溝也從叡土聲叡音同也）。
巨壑 (*he* + *ge* fanqie; the *Shanhaijing* says: "Beyond the Eastern Sea there is a great abyss." Gu Yewang says: "Refers to a ravine valley." Guo's commentary to the *Erya* says: "Refers to a pit or ditch." The *Shuowen* says: "壑 means a ditch; derived from 叡 and 土; 叡 has the same pronunciation").
