僚佐（上力彫反孔安國曰僚官也爾雅亦同左傳云僕隸之臣也又云同官曰僚或作寮寮宷也（音釆）下子箇反周禮以佐王均邦國鄭玄曰佐助也毛詩云王子出征以佐天子是也）。

僚佐 (the upper character has the fanqie 力 + 彫. Kong Anguo says: '僚 means officials.' The Erya agrees. The Zuozhuan says: 'Servant-officials.' It also says: 'Those serving in the same office are called 僚.' It is also written 寮, meaning colleagues in an official department [sound: 釆]. The lower character has the fanqie 子 + 箇. The Zhouli says: 'Thereby assisting (佐) the king to regulate the states.' Zheng Xuan says: '佐 means to assist.'
